Almost Asian Star
The Hilarious and Talented Katie Malia joins today and we are talking about her awesome career in commercials, but she's also a comedian, and actress. This girl kicks ass! Her web series "Almost Asian" is clever and addicting.
Katie Malia is an "ethnically-ambiguous" performer and writer in Los Angeles. Having appeared in over 100 national commercials with numerous acclaimed directors like Mike Mills, Marc Forster, Jon Watts, Fredrik Bond, Rupert Sanders, Todd Haynes, Terry Timely and more, Katie has also been featured on HBO's Hello Ladies, How I Met Your Mother, The Mindy Project with a recent Guest-Star on Sleepy Hollow and Hawaii Five-0. Katie studied at Barnard College at Columbia University in New York and continues to write and create her own content. She is also a successful dancer and has worked with choreographers Fatima Robinson, Michael Rooney, Michelle Johnston, Rich & Tone Talauega, Marty Kudelka, and Ryan Heffington to name a few.
Katie performs stand up, sketch comedy, and improv around Los Angeles and continues to write and produce her comedic scripted webseries, Almost Asian, which explores the mixed-ethnic identity and half-Asian experience. Her series has been well-received and featured in the Huffington Post and will be screening at a number of festivals in 2016 including Raindance Film Festival in London, Toronto Asian International Film Festival and Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival. She was a performer and writer in the 2016 CBS Diversity Comedy Showcase and lives in Silver Lake. Oh yeah, and she hates the term "ethnically-ambiguous." AND HERE'S WHY.
